Weston Park: Team spirit triumphs
After 2021’s Team Challenge champions were crowned at Weston Park, we spoke to some of the winners about the experience
BE80 TEAM CHALLENGE – WINGING IT
Jane Byrne, Sharron Griffith, Sophie Cocking and Joanna Royle
“I had an absolute blast. The weather and venue were perfect and having support, encouragement and the team spirit made the day even more exciting. My horse, Galphay’s Pride, went perfectly and we’re over the moon that Winging It managed to win – and I got an individual second as well!” SOPHIE COCKING
“We were a scratch team who hadn’t met before and we got together through the East Clwyd Riding Club Facebook page. We all got there early to support each other in the various phases, which created great team spirit. Weston Park is a fantastic venue – the weather and the going were absolutely perfect.
“It was a lovely galloping course that asked some interesting questions and was such fun to ride. I’d love to do it again any day.” JANE BYRNE
BE90 TEAM CHALLENGE – WIN 4 GIN

“We couldn’t have asked for a better day. The weather, the ground, the courses and the atmosphere were all amazing. To stand on a podium was a real treat – as grassroots riders, it was lovely to have our moment and to do it with your friends made it all more special.” OLIVIA McCULLOUGH
“I just love this event. We were pipped into second place last year, so it was great to be back and take the win. Being part of a team in what is usually an individual sport for us over-18s creates a real sense of camaraderie and fun. The courses were amazing and the atmosphere was fantastic for the entire championship.” SUE DAWSON
