Our favourite moments of Badminton 2019

Badminton may be over for another year but we can't stop thinking about what an amazing week it was! There were a lot - but here are some of our favourite moments of 2019...

1. Pippa Funnell's interview
Pippa Funnell's post dressage test interview with Majas Hope had us all in tears. Her heartfelt comments remind us of how lucky we are to be involved in such a fantastic and rewarding sport. Listen again here

"As you can tell, I am really pleased, it is a huge PB for him. It's not just about the winning. For me it has become a real personal challenge to get him to be happy and confident."

2. Oliver's record breaking dressage score
How could we not include Oliver Townend and Cillnabradden Evo's incredible Badminton dressage record? The combination delivered the best ever dressage score of 19.2 at Badminton Horse Trials, previously held for 19 years by Andrew Hoy and Darien Powers with 20.5. You can watch the pair's test HERE.

3. Mitsubishi Motors Cup
The elated reaction of riders competing their cross country at the Mitsubishi Motors Cup has to be one of our favourite aspects of the week. We challenge any inspired eventer to think of a better way to spend a Wednesday. Do you dream of cantering past the infamous Badminton House? Find out how you could qualify for the 2020 Championships.

4. The most inspiring cross country round of 2019
Did you know that David Britnell and Continuity are the only combination ever to have competed in the Mitsubishi Motors Cup and the CCI5*-L competition? Simply amazing!

5. Launching the BE Pavilion
This was the first year British Eventing hosted a members' lakeside pavilion and it was brilliant - Amazing views of the cross country, live streaming of all the action, a chance to meet members and free refreshments! The next BE Members' Pavilion will be at The Festival of British Eventing from 2-4 August.

6. Ben Hobday and Harelaw Wizard's cross country round
We absolutely loved Ben's round with the super Harelaw Wizard. This horse is half Clydesdale and has the biggest feet in the field - even bigger than Ben's popular partner Mulry's Error.

7. Tom McEwen and Toldeo de Kerser's show jumping round

8. Piggy's incredible win
The nail-biting finish to Sunday's show jumping, with Piggy French pipping Oliver Townend to the post in her first CCI5*-L win, has to be one of the most exciting conclusions to a Badminton we have seen! Piggy's euphoria at taking the title, after 25 attempts at this level, is the highlight of our Mitsubishi Motors Badminton 2019. View Piggy's post win interview HERE.
